We have new training class for forensic data recovery.  We conducted research for NIJ and built a training class to teach law enforcement how to do forensic data recovery.  We have a new Training Center and the site is http://www.national-forensic-data-recovery-training-center.net/

We also conduct computer forensic and electronic discovery services. WWW.Bit-Chasers.com

D.B. Cooper

This is my uncle.  I thought he looked like the composite when it came out.  I would like to know if it was or was not him?  He was 8th army.   He was a load master on the 747.  Three tours in Vietnam.  He retired in October before this came out.  He stayed with us for a while and then we dropped him at Travis Airfoce base on a dark rainy night.  He said he had a job to do up North.  When I saw the composite, I showed it to my mom, (his sister), without telling her it was a composite.  Since I used to draw faces in pencil, she assumed I drew it and told me it was a good picture of uncle Wes.  When I explained what it was, she was not going to discuss it anymore.  She never would tell me where he lived after that.  They were raised in a Masonic Home and were close.  Then he dies in Seattle.  Let me think, the only place that celebrated DB.  He was not treated very well by the locals here upon return, as happened to  many Vietnam military vetrans.  Pretty much everything matches even to the type of cigarette he smoked, Ralieghs, (we bugged him to get the coupons).  Nobody seemed too interested over the years.  Now it is in the news again.  What do youi think, does the photo match the composite??  The photo is like late 1950s?    FBI Agent Larry Carr is supposed to be on to a good lead now.  Let's see how that pans out?

We all won that day!

Mike Hara, second in from the right, trained us. He is a Drug Free Powerlifter, (USAPL), and has won several world titles. My nephew on the left was still in high school and it was his first meet. I dug this one out trying to get motivated to do something like a Tri...or at least a half marathon this year...time to get motivated. I think this was vintage 1998 or so :)

Fort Worth visit, the Stockyards

Ok, so I am wandering the Stock Yards and checking out the area. A cowboy is wandering around with this Longhorn. He let us have photo opportunities. Everyone was having a great time. I can not even imagine getting on one of these when it is in a bad mood! This fella was very friendly :)

This is a good training conference. You do not have to be law enforcement to join this group. You do need two sponsors from the group. They have a list serve and the training each year is different. There are a lot of talented people in this group. Also, the vendor booths will keep you current on what is new with investigative software and hardware.

Guidance has the "Portable" now. If you have a non-technical user in a remote area, which you have limited band width issues, (otherwise you could simply do this with Enterprise or eDiscovery), you can simply create a job, load it to Portable, and send the Portable device along with a storage drive to the user. A job might be a full image of a computer's hard drive, or it might be set up to collect Word docs only. Source Processor is the magic behind this one.

The user can plug portable into a running Windows machine and simply run the preset collection criteria, or Portable can be used as a bootable thumb drive device, (we have a boot CD too). This allows an operating system to boot and the collection jobs to display in a GIU. No OS concerns. It makes it easy to collect.

The user simply plugs in Portable, plugs in a storage drive, then clicks on a predefined job. It can be a full disk image of all the drives, or the collection of specific items. We were at the High Tech Crime Investigator's conference doing demos.

I thought this reminded me of some of the stuff in France.

This is where he stopped to get a cookie

They really made a big deal out of his stop to get a cookie. They had some cookies for sale too, but I passed. They all seemed to like him up there.

Ottawa was nice, but cold the first week

I saw this AC Cobra and thought it was a nice pic. They had helmets on and he was revving that baby up. He was driving it hard. I didn't see the copper or the ambulance until I looked back at the photo. Who do you think he will see first, later in the day?

My buddy Fred had the longest trip so far.

He had a serious plane ride to South Africa. He got to take a few pics between weeks of training the locals. He thought it was more dangerous in town!

Oakland Officers

There were a lot of flowers and nice notes in front. I went to Oakland's 100th Academy. I got lucky and retired. Remember all these officers have families and will be missed. Nice that we have men and women who will go toe to toe with criminals. I am glad there are a lot of folks that suit up and go out there every day!

Wall with the names of fallen officers

They have the plastic box up as they are carving the names of the 4 officers killed. There are a lot of names on that wall.
