Our rigshaw trip, fun

They peddeled us through the older part of the historic area near the forbidden city. We had lunch with a family there. This was fun and a bit of a wild ride. Our driver is the middle pic.

Knock offs all over

You will have street vendors selling lots of things. The cheap Rolex the higher end Rolex, (about $40.00) and it was a game to see who could get the best deal. Gucci watches for $3.00 at Tiananmen Square. gucci purses for $8.00 and that was the starting price. There are different grades of knock offs. Mostly fun to haggle.

Kathy on he Great Wall

Some of the stairs are 6 inches high and others are 30! Maybe they did that so one could not navigate up the grade easily, I am not sure but I could not imagine running up that for battle. You would have a big advantage on the uphill side of things. Just carrying food and water up the stairs would be difficult. This is just outside of Bejing.

The Great Wall outside of Bejing

The Great wall is amazing. The terrain it is built on is rough. Just walking this was a chore!

Clean Room training. July 2008

We went to a drive recovery class put on by a company that just put out a new device for evaluating, repairing, and imaging drives. It breaks password protected drives too. Pretty good device, the beta version is out. But the final firmware is not out for the device.

Watching an oscilloscope, you can see the disturbance from simply yelling at the drive. Just the sound waves. When you tap on one or move it, you can really see variations.

We worked on these in the open, no clean room as it was just training, removed and reinstalled heads and platters and got them up and running again.

One of the guys was from Slovania, some from Spain, Japan, and other countries. We had some locals from California in the class too. Nice group.
